All parents that have children in Year 6 transitioning or are thinking about moving your children to different schools, please do not send your children to Burnt Mill Academy. The staff claim that it is a good school but in reality, it is the worst school. The teachers enjoy bullying and downgrading the student in Burnt Mill Academy and the pastoral staff are very unsupportive and when you come for help, they seem not to care and act like they do not enjoy their job. Also, ever since Mr Blaney stepped down from head teacher and Ms McGlashan took over, the school has deteriorated and the school is falling apart. The staff abuse their power and the student safeguarding is very bad. (This was written by a current student)
Pushes great amount of pressure onto high achieving students which leads the students to eventually start performing badly/ fail to meet extreamly high expectations and feel worthless about themselves.Doesn't allow students, even when needing to use computers for homework or studying.Teachers speak badly of students behind their backs.The safe guarding at this school is really bad, asking students directly and with a bored manner of speach "what they are depressed about" without actual help or psychological examination to deem the student as "depressed". This undermines the student's mental health as "just another depressed teen". And offers no help other than a leaflet about mental health. However; they do all of this so we can achieve the best we possibly can!And, of course, they have good chips.Not the sausages though..
Absolutely shet, teachers constantly moaning a licking eachother backside.
I went there to watch a play as my school just joined their academy trust. The staff and students were very polite and whenever a student did sometimes wrong, the teachers were quick to correct their behaviour.
Burnt Mill is an incredible school! My son has struggled all his school life with learning difficulties and ADHD, but is sailing through, doing amazing and loves it and now in year 9!
